Day 19-22

Welp, I think I've finally hit the super-tourist stage. I went to the museum, and actually took pictures, too. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I feel this was the best picture. Yes, it's a flying squirrel.

Afterwards, my new friend Jenna and I were starving so we decided to look for a restaurant where we had probably the worst beef noodles yet. It ranks up there with the Pokemon Snap day, seriously. We then ventured to Xi Men Ding, a racous night market that runs all day, so it's just a popular tourist attraction I guess. There, we had some amazing dessert. I had some red bean ice stuff and she had, ugh, mango. After walking around and not really buying anything, I spotted an American Apparel wannabe. Judge for yourself.

Nothing too eventful happened the next few days, other than scarfing down more beef noodles, drinking more beer and somehow not turning into a massive balloon. I've also discovered I love milk tea. Can't wait to pay $5 a drink for it once I get home...

Today my dad and I went to Danshui, I think it's the northmost part of Taipei City. We visited my dad's old university and it was pretty cool to see him so happy with nostalgic moments streaming through his head. His school was also the place where a lot of Jay Chou's "Secret" was shot, so that was pretty cool. Can you believe this is the school's girl's rugby team???

Since it was friggin' hot today, we decided to look for the nearest 7-11 or FamilyMart and get a cold drink. We ended up getting a beer and drinking it in the air-conditioned interior of the FamilyMart (convenience store), something that would be so illegal in Canada. After we got back we went to a family friends' place for dinner where she made probably one of the best bowls of noodles I've had here. It was also eerily similar to my mom's. As the trip winds down the days are getting more and more uneventful...in retrospect, a month was far too long.
