Day 3
My uncle teaches IT and business related stuff at a local university here. I decided to go with him to his school. The commute from my grandpa's place was about an hour by bus. The first thing he did when we got there was take me to a biochem lab. Their labs are tiny compared to UBC's. I snapped some pictures and looked around. Most of the stuff they do looks like what I'll be doing soon enough..SDS-PAGEs, gel electrophoresis..oh boy!
For lunch we went to the school's cafeteria (imagine your prof sitting beside you eating at Vanier or the SUB or something haha). Their cafeteria is NOTHING like UBC's, and it was friggin packed too. Kids here have class from 8ish until 12 where they have a school-wide lunch break until 1:30. The food was actually pretty good..a lot of it was Western cuisine, and by that I mean potato salad, fried chicken and the like.

After lunch my uncle held office hours so I went exploring. There were many student run clubs holding booths and trying to sell crap to raise money, luckily I can just pretend I don't speak any mandarin.
When that was said and done we went to the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall which was packed full of tourists taking as many pictures as they could. From there we walked to a restaurant where we met the rest of the family and had dinner.
After dinner we had to walk back because the car was full (sadface) so we decided to go through the night markets. Imagine we had legit night markets in Vancouver... :(.
Day 4
Probably the most boring day since arriving here. For lunch we had beef noodles (Surprise! This'll be a recurring theme...) and later on my dad's friend took us to some hot springs that are apparently a huge tourist attraction. We had dinner at their place then when I got home I worked on my philosophy homework......yaaaaaay distance ed!
Yeah, that was the day.....
Day 5
Today I woke up at around 6 am to get to my dad's friend's place to watch the game. Fortunately we won. I walked back by myself afterwards and got lost into a beef noodle restaurant. After getting home we immediately left to another family friend's place where I passed out for a good hour or two. When I woke up my dad took me to the computer market. Picture a smaller Future Shop or Best Buy where everything is pretty damn cheap, and you can bargain. I got a pair of headphones for $3 and took some prices down at some monitors I've been looking at.
