As work at the lab continues, I've been given my own project of which I am quite excited about. My first assignment for this project is to read a 9 page paper named "The Role of Chromatin during Transcription". Basically what I'll be doing is Western Blot assays to analyze the level of acetylation on amino acid side chains in histone proteins given different mutants of a yeast strain. Two weeks in and I'm still, in a super nerdy way, so excited that I'm able to apply what I've learned in class to my job.
Another perk of this job is me setting my own schedule. This will be the second week in a row where I'll have worked only 3 days, 2 1/2 actually. Tomorrow I'll be leaving after a few hours to attend my Vancouver 2010 Olympic volunteering orientation! Then on Thursday a few friends and I are trekking up to Osoyoos for a weekend in Canada's only desert.
you busy bee =P
